About Me

“How you look at the problem you are facing will determine how you tackle it”

I am a mature, confident and experienced psychologist with a multitude of skills honed from working with people in diverse populations. I thrive on challenges and am passionate about working with people. I believe that my years of experience have helped me acquire knowledge and skills that help me contribute to the overall wellness of individuals, be it children or adults.

"At any given moment you have the power to say this is not how the story is going to end."

My journey as a psychologist started in the class as a Grade 12 Mathematics and Guidance educator. From the very first year of my teaching career, I realised that I have a gift of making children feel comfortable with me to the extent that I found myself doing counselling as they easily opened up to me and in that way, I got to contribute in their well-being and support them where support was needed. I also had a passion to help those that presented with learning challenges and I ended up studying a Diploma in Remedial Education which gave me an opportunity to work with learners (primary and high school) who were presenting with scholastic and learning difficulties and I enjoyed intervening in their challenges and witnessing growth and improvement in various ways.

I furthered my studies at the University of the Western Cape doing Masters in Psychology (M. Psych) where we were exposed to different counselling sites (community health clinics, student counselling institutes/centres as well as in the education system).

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light."

My passion and eagerness/zeal to learn led me to hone my skills further in tertiary institutions. I started at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (Student Counselling Centre) as a Student Counsellor. While there, I also worked as a coordinator for community projects and peer counsellors as well as personal development initiatives.

I then went on to serve at the University of Johannesburg (Soweto Campus) as a Campus Coordinator for PsyCaD (Centre for Psychological Services and Career Development), leading the unit and working collaboratively with the Student Health and the Student Development Centre on campus.

Presently, I am also contracted with Employee Assistance Programmes, where I see employees and their families dealing with various challenges relating to personal problems, family challenges as well as work-related challenges.

"The way you tell your story to yourself matters."

Being in the Education Sector, I believe that my experience in the various sectors of education plays a significant role in making me a well-rounded and widely experienced psychologist, which makes it possible for me to excel in my work with children, adolescents, students, adults and families.

Looking forward to welcoming you to my practice.
